ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

Our fellows are welcome to:

  • Observe the operating room (Hospital Lucerne and University Hospital Zurich)
  • Use the ENT- library
  • Use the video-room of the ENT Department in Lucerne
  • Attend lectures and grand rounds
  • Use the temporal bone lab under supervision of Prof. Linder and his staff
  • Participate in the personal teaching of drilling sessions by Prof. Linder
  • Use the 3D-video library by Prof. Linder
  • Attend the otology and skull base courses as observers (free of charge)
  • Participate in research projects (if available)
  • Edit new teaching videos

Discuss temporal bone or edited videos with Prof. Linder (Temporal bone Dissection Laboratory / Fellows office)

APPLICATION

Your written application should include:

  • Curriculum vitae, including photo
  • Letter of motivation
  • Letter of recommendation

Applicants must be otologists having completed at least one year of otology training either during or after the residency. Ideally the applicants should have also participated in one of the FIMF training courses.

The board of the FIMF will evaluate all applications and confirm acceptance at least 1 year ahead of the planned stay.

INSURANCE

Fellows must have their own health and accident insurance.

VISAS

The working visa will be obtained by the ENT Clinic and is valid for 90 days. The costs (400 SFr) must be reimbursed by the fellow upon arrival.

Since you are not employed, a special tourist visa for a maximum of three months is rarely required. If you plan to extend your stay for holiday reasons for more than three months, you may need a visa.

For detailed information, please contact the Swiss embassy in your country well ahead of time.

Note: Parking at the hospital is not available (or very expensive).
